Current Initiatives
Bus Shelter Initiative
The Journey of a Lifetime Bus Shelter Initiative was created to fund much needed educational programming, services and resources in Delray Beach; enhance the quality of local schools, beautify our city, and promote local businesses.
Bus shelter panels offer a highly visible way to spread the word about our local schools and showcase your support of our students. Several local businesses, nonprofits and philanthropic families have already stepped forward to sponsor the decorative displays.
With your help, we can transform the bus shelters of Delray into a vehicle for educational success!
The Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce has supported schools in Delray Beach for more than half a century. Through the Delray Chamber Education Fund (DCEF), we have purchased books, invested in technology, funded reading programs, created paid student internships and more.
Delray Reads
Local residents, together with national reading initiatives, join teachers and students in the classroom to explore age-appropriate books. The teachers and students enjoy the program because it breaks their routine and participants benefit because of the warm appreciation they receive. It also gives an up close and personal view of our local schools at work.
Education Breakfast
DCEF brings together Chamber members, principals and teachers, and municipal officials to launch each new school year. Over coffee and breakfast, 200 plus participants hear about the challenges of the upcoming school year and express gratitude to the schools for their challenging work.
Grants
Small grants to local not for profits working with Delray schools Surprisingly, small amounts of money can make a big difference to schools that are strapped for even basic materials such as book bags, pencils and papers. When not-for- profits come to us with innovative ideas that are modest but exert a big difference, DCEF tries to help.
